Equinox the twice a year event when the sun is directly over the equator. During the equinox we get a balance of equal day and equal night. The Fall equinox is our journey into the darkness. As our daylight slowly descends into darkness preparing for winter. Many cultures celebrate this a time to harvest the food we grew. It is important to cleanse the system and prepare for warmer, hearty, spicier foods. As Fall continues we should eat more root vegetables, such as sweet potatoes, gourds, butternut squash, beets, apples, pears, nuts and seeds. Fueling our bodies with soups and stews. During this time it’s good to establish a routine, using oils to massage our skin since this is a drying season. Take more time be still and prepare for the colder darker days of winter.
As the earth begins to prepare for hibernation we should prepare our bodies to do less as well to stay in balance with nature.
For today celebrating the equinox is celebrating balance, take time to meditate on this day of balance and allow you body and mind to prepare for the colder days ahead. Now is the time to set those intentions and make them happen.
